Avex Music Group Under Brandon Silverstein Adds We The Band
We The Band, the musicians who have toured and recorded with Justin Bieber for over a decade, have signed with Avex Music Group as the company’s first artist under CEO Brandon Silverstein. The five-piece includes Harv on bass, Tay James handling DJ duties, Julian Michael on guitar, Devin “Stixx” Taylor on drums, and O’Neil Palmer on keyboards.
The group’s credentials run deep in pop music. James has collaborated with Bieber since 2009, serving dual roles as A&R representative and touring DJ. Harv joined the following year and achieved his biggest songwriting success with “Peaches,” the 2021 Bieber track he co-wrote and co-produced that dominated global streaming charts.
Silverstein sees the signing as validation of his theory about talent discovery. “Artists are finding talent first,” he explained, noting how the relationships within Bieber’s circle led to this opportunity.
Brandon Silverstein’s Vision Takes Shape
The announcement comes months after Silverstein assumed control of Avex Music Group, the restructured American division of Japanese entertainment company Avex Inc. His appointment in March coincided with Avex’s complete acquisition of S10 Music Publishing and increased investment in S10 Management.
Silverstein originally partnered with Avex in 2020 when he launched S10 Publishing as a joint venture. That catalog has since accumulated over 50 billion streams and produced 22 global number-one hits across multiple genres and markets.
Under his leadership, the publishing operation has achieved consistent radio success. Recent highlights include three songs reaching the top 20 of Mediabase’s year-end chart, with Tate McRae’s “Greedy” claiming the number-one spot.
“It is an honor to work alongside Katsumi and contribute to Avex’s legacy of innovation and excellence,” Silverstein said of Avex CEO Katsumi Kuroiwa. “My mandate is to build Avex Music Group into a dynamic, full-service music company that creates global opportunities for our creative community.”
We The Band is currently working on their debut album at Avex’s Los Angeles recording facilities. The project will feature guest collaborations, though specific names remain confidential. Release is targeted for the second half of 2025, marking their transition from supporting roles to headline artists within Silverstein’s expanding portfolio.
